WASHINGTON, November 7. /TASS/. The US Department of Commerce has extended export restrictions imposed on Rossiya Airlines for one year, according to a resolution published in the electronic database of the Federal Register.
“I hereby grant the request <…> to renew the temporary denial order [for granting export privileges] issued in this matter on November 8, 2023. I find that renewal of this order is necessary in the public interest,” says the document signed by Matthew S. Axelrod, Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Export Enforcement. This order is effective immediately and shall remain in effect for one year.
According to the US authorities, the airline allegedly continued violate US export restrictions imposed on Russia, in particular, “by operating multiple aircraft subject to the Export Administration Restrictions (EAR).
The restrictions deprive the airline of the right to participate in transactions subject to US export regulations, including the export and re-export of software and technology from the United States.
On February 24, 2022, the United States introduced export control measures on aviation-related products supplied to Russia. This includes introducing additional licensing requirements and restricting access to most license exemptions for export, re-export, and transfer within the country. When considering license applications, in accordance with the sanction regime, a ” presumption of refusal ” applies.
